Nairobi — East Africa is feeling the knock-on effects of a sharp rise in global crude oil prices, which could hurt 2011 economic projections.

Analysts say economic growth in Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Rwanda and Burundi is threatened by inflation driven by the escalating cost of fuel as countries in the region are net importers of petroleum products.
