The president of the Gambia Deaf Sports Association, Mr Lamin Ceesay, is seeking financial assistance to enable him travel to Lome, Togo for the upcoming general assembly of the West African Deaf Sports Union.

Mr Ceesay, who walked into the Daily Observer offices yesterday with his plea, said he has been invited to attend the first-ever general assembly of the regional deaf sports union scheduled for April 15 - 16, 2011, but added that his financially-strapped association is unable to foot the bill of his travel.

"It's very important for me to attend this gathering in Lome, which seeks to initiate and discuss new ideas relevant to the development and promotion of dead sports in West Africa," Ceesay told Observer Sports through a translator.

He added: "Its however unfortunate that my association does not have the financial ability to sponsor my trip, hence I am appealing to the stakeholders in sports for assistance."

The Lome gathering will also witness election of the executive committee for the regional sports body. Anyone wishing to assist the Deaf association chief could reach him on: 7728092.
