Goodluck Jonathan on Sunday won the Presidential ballot cast 24 hours earlier, riding in part on the sophistication of the electorate in the South West who explained that they voted for him "not the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP)" because of his personality, and their dissatisfaction with "Northern rule" over the decades.
In a dose of surprise, Jonathan cleared five of the six South West states, where the PDP had won just one out of 15 Senatorial seats in the National Assembly (NASS) poll on April 9.
