This Easter may well be remembered for the pain the dramatic price increases in fuel and food prices are inflicting on God's own people. Just as well, you would say. We are a majority Christian country. So we should be familiar with the story of Jesus. He endured immense hardship -torment, humiliation - before and during his crucifixion. But Easter is supposed to bring joy because Jesus resurrected, bequeathing to his followers all that is good and eternal.

In Uganda, unfortunately, what is good and eternal today is the preserve of hotshot types. For the rest, the last several months have been tough. Families have scaled back the number of meals. Cars are getting parked. Plus, the kids are back for the first term holidays. As most parents know, it will be tricky telling that strapping teenager from boarding school to go easy at the dinner table.
