Kenya: Shivam to Unveil New Kawasaki for Sunday Race At Jamhuri

If the rains persist, mastery of muddy conditions will be key to winning races in the fourth round of the Car and General National Motocross Championships on Sunday at the Jamhuri Park. As most motocross events in Kenya are held under dry and dusty conditions, wet and slippery surfaces will be an unusual test for championship leaders like Ivan Guya, Cruize Muigai and Shivam Vinayak. Shivam, who participated in the Ganatra Cross Country Championship last weekend In Baringo, is set to ditch his usual Yamaha 450 four-stroke bike for a Kawasaki bike he has acquire from South Africa. He heads the prestigious MX 1 class with a 37 points ahead of Ken Anunda. This is a useful lead, but the tussle for the title is still wide open. Riders, who are able to cover the complete distance of each race without a spill, will be at an advantage. The difficult conditions facing riders will present a treat for spectators, who will watch hard charging competitors ploughing through mud baths and pools of water. The championship leaders will be slipping and sliding as they battle with their opponents to stay out in front.

Ivan Guya has a 31 point lead in the MX 125 class from Adil Khan, who is followed by Mwai Kibaki. With five rounds remaining Ivan Guya will have to work hard on Sunday to maintain his leadership. In the MX2 class 27 points separates the leader Cruze Muigai on a KTM from the current runner-up Tutu Maina who is his cousin. These two dashing young riders will be riding wheel to wheel in their search for championship points.
