Kenya: CJ to Be Known Today

The Chief Justice and his deputy nominated by the Judicial Service Commission will be known today.

The commission is expected to make the names public before forwarding them to President Kibaki to consult Prime Minister Raila Odinga then forward to Parliament for approval.

The new Chief Justice is expected to lead reforms the Judiciary currently seen as inefficient, corrupt and not trustworthy. This will be first time in the country's history that the position will be filled by a person not directly appointed by the president.
