Minna — The Niger state Governor, Dr. Mu'azu Babangida Aliyu, has attributed the controversy that trailed the implementation of the Islamic legal code popularly known as Shariah to ignorance by its promoters that emphasised only capital punishment.
Aliyu stated this at an interactive session by stakeholders on the proposed Niger state Shariah and other laws at the U.K Bello Arts theatre, Minna, arguing that, the misapplication of the legal code has brought bad reputation to the Islamic religion and adherents of the Islamic faith.
