As the current scarcity of kerosene in the country bites harder, the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) has suspended supply to depot owners and commenced direct allocation of a total of 50 million metric tonnes to marketers, as part of the measures to bring down the retail cost of the product.
Checks in some private depots in Lagos at the weekend revealed that NNPC officials attached to the various depots were responsible for selling to the marketers, while the depot owners were collecting only throughput charges.
