Zimbabwe's tale of winter wheat production has been told over and over again to the extent of getting monotonous.
Having declined over the past decade to 12 000 tonnes or less than three percent of the country's annual requirement of between 380 000 and 450 000 tonnes, wheat production is further expected to drop this year because most farmers have since abandoned wheat farming in favour of potatoes, which are offering better returns.
