Stigma is still a major challenge to the fight against HIV and Aids in Tana Delta district because of ignorance and high poverty levels. Those tested positive do not want to disclose their status for fear of being intimidated by colleagues or discriminated against by the society.
Only 200 out of the entire population of 115,000 people in the district have accepted their status and are on Anti Retro Viral services (ARVS).
