Gambia: State Urges Court to Admit Ex-Igp Badjie's Cautionary Statement

Principal State counsel, Aminchi D. Bwala has urged the High Court in Banjul, presided over by Justice Emmanuel Amadi to admit the cautionary statement of the ex-IGP, Ensa Badjie, as prosecution exhibit in the criminal trial involving the state against the ex-IGP Ensa Badjie, Mam Mattar Secka and Kuluteh Manneh.

Counsel A.D. Bwala made these submissions yesterday, Monday, 13th of June 2011, whilst responding to defence address in the voire dire (mini trial). The ex-IGP, Ensa Badjie, is facing 28-count charges and in proving the prosecution's case, the prosecution sought to tender the cautionary statement of the ex-IGP, dated 7th of March 2010, when the defence objected to the admissibility of the said document, which prompted the High Court to order for a voire dire.
