Ethiopia: Egyptian Minister - Tharir Square Leads to Nile Policy Change

In his opening words at a press conference during the annual meeting of the board of directors of the African Development Bank (AfDB) in Lisbon last week, Gouda Abdel-Khalek (PhD), Egypt's new minister of Solidarity and Social Justice, expressed a desire to speak from his "heart" as much as from his "mind."

True to his words, he spoke candidly and eloquently about the historical mistakes his country has made in advancing its foreign policy interests over the past 30 years. This included Egypt's long held view on the most controversial issue of the utilisation of the Nile waters.
