Nigeria: How Onitsha Can Help Boost Governor Peter Obi's Image

I believe that Governor Peter Obi of Anambra State has done more than Dr Chris Ngige did when he was governor between 2003 and 2006. But the perception among many people of Anambra State is that Ngige is an action man while Obi is a talker.

There are many reasons for this. One is that Obi is more of an idealist, while Ngige is more of a pragmatist. Another is that Ngige is more of a showman, while Obi is more of a conservative in his ways. Furthermore, Ngige is more of a sprinter, while Obi is more of a long-distance runner. Ngige gives the people what they can see and relate with immediately, while Obi gives them what will be useful to them in the long run.
