Nigeria: Uduaghan - Weathering the Storm of Expectations From Delta Electorate

opinion

Warri — For Delta State governor, Dr. Emmanuel Uduaghan, who won a gruelling re-election battle, this is a very challenging time. With the inauguration of the two arms of government - executive and legislature - it is time to roll up the sleeves and get down to the task of governance. Uduaghan's post inaugural speech of May 29, 2011, which encapsulated his leadership philosophy in a away, gave Deltans something to hold firmly onto, with a strong belief that the governor's expression would be translated into concrete and practical terms for their betterment.

A common response from Deltans on the governor is that he needs to quicken the pace of governance. Thus, the pressure is weighing heavily on the governor's shoulders like his counterparts elsewhere, on such issues as tackling the ravaging unemployment in addition to building critical infrastructure which would draw in investments thus nurturing growth and development.
