Kenya: Kisumu Expo Shows Home Prices High

High house prices are likely to continue keeping many people's dreams of owning a home out of reach. The just concluded Fourth Kisumu Homes Expo which sought to explore available opportunities for middle income earners revealed that house prices in Kisumu are still high, and far out of reach for most people.

However, hopes for affordable houses seem to be yielding with some developers showcasing relatively low priced houses at the expo which was themed "Unveiling potential for home ownership". The lowest priced home was tagged Sh2.5 million, meaning it's only affordable to those with a monthly income of Sh70,000 and above who can qualify for mortgage loans.
