Kenya: Bomet Farmer Who Stole From His Neighbour Jailed

A farmer who stole produce and farm inputs valued at Sh3,410 from a neighbour has been jailed for two years by a Bomet court. Augustine Kitur was convicted on his plea of guilt by Bomet magistrate Virginia Karanja. He broke into Elias Langat's house on June 4 and 5 at Leldaet village and stole two kilos of potatoes, three kilos of fertilizer, 16 kilos of maize meal, a pair of gumboots, a torch and a thermos flask.

Langat informed neighbours his house had been burgled and a search was formed to comb the village. The court heard Kitur was arrested at Kimulot trading center trying to sell some of the stolen goods.
