Kenya: Country Recognizes South Sudan

Kenya has recognized the Republic of South Sudan as a fully sovereign State.

This comes a day before the country celebrates its independence from the North.

In a statement, president Kibaki says Kenya will work closely with the new Republic to further enhance the existing cordial relations.
