I remember when certain friends in Nairobi wanted to be dismissive of airline companies they disliked, they often would refer to them as "matatu airlines."
In saying this, they meant to suggest that Airline X behaved in the style of a matatu, and as such had no time-table, no fixed route, no fixed ticket price, treated passengers shoddily and stopped and started wherever and whenever it chose.
