Five weeks after its inauguration, the seventh session of the House of Representatives Tuesday, named seven lawmakers who will serve as its principal officers. The new principal officers were chosen at separate caucus meetings of the majority party (Peoples Democratic Party) and the minority parties namely the Action congress of Nigeria (ACN), All Nigeria Peoples Party (ANPP) and Congress for Progressive Change (CPC). Both caucus meetings held at different times at the Conference Hall of the House of Representatives on Monday night.

Also Tuesday, the House adopted a resolution urging the Federal Government and the Non-Academic Staff Union of Universities (NASUU) to commence dialogue on the looming strike by university workers and resolve the outstanding issues surrounding collective agreement signed by both parties. Three unions namely Non-Academic Staff Union of Univer-sities(NASU), Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities (SSANU) and National Association of Technologists(NAAT) are threatening to embark on a nationwide industrial action because of the non-implementation of the said agreement.
