Gambia: President Jammeh Calls on Youths to Actively Engage in Farming

The president of the Republic has again called on the youths to actively engage in farming and desist from lackadaisical attitude.

His Excellency Sheikh Professor Alhaji Dr Yahya Jammeh made these remarks Monday evening while addressing thousands of APRC militants and supporters in Farafenni as part of his 2011 'Dialogue with the people tour'. The Gambian leader is accompanied on the tour by a high-ranking delegation that includes cabinet ministers; APRC bigwigs, supporters and militants; heads of security institutions; religious leaders; 'Yai-Kompins' and some members of the Consular and Diplomatic corps in the country. The president recalled the days when Gambians only fed on crops they grew, saying people of those days were healthier than the people of this generation.
