Somalia: Ahlu Sunna Charges Aid Agencies of Not Helping People

Abudwak — The administration of Somalia's moderate Sufi group Ahlu Sunna Waljama charged international aid agencies on Sunday with failing to help the needy people in Abudwak district in Galgudud region of central Somalia.

In an interview with Shabelle Media Network, Hassan Abdi Alas, the district commissioner of Abudwak under Ahlu Sunna Waljama said there are many destitute drought affected families in the district, saying those families are in dire need for urgent humanitarian assistance.

He said a UN delegation had recently arrived at the district who he said had pledged to send aid to the area soon.

But, the official the UN failed to live up its commitment to help those starving in parts of central Somalia including Abudwak.
