Angola: Minister Worried About Uncollected IDs

Lubango — The Justice Ministry is worried about the high number of issued Identity Cards (IDs) left uncollected by applying citizens, Angop learned Tuesday in Luanda.

The concern was expressed in Lubango, southern Huila province, by the Justice minister, Guilhermina Prata.

Guilhermina Prata is in Lubango on a two-day work visit intended to assess the functioning of the various departments of the sector in the region.

The minister said that the sectors of identification are crammed with uncollected IDs, but she would not mention figures.

The official considered this as ridiculous, saying the ID is a personal identification document and the State has invested huge resources in the modernisation of the systems.

She also complained about bad conservation of the document and appealed to holders to preserve it.

Guilhermina Prata is expected back in Luanda on Tuesday, after the visit devoted to discussions for the review of the Penal Code.
