Kenya: Envoys Urged to Promote Lamu Port

President Kibaki has called on Kenyan envoys to aggressively begin promoting the Lamu port in their missions abroad.

Kibaki said the port's construction is set to commence soon. Kibaki said the construction of the port and the subsequent Lamu-Southern Sudan-Ethiopia Transport Corridor will open up large parts of the country to investment and provide opportunities for further development.

"The project has immense potential due to its multi-faceted nature. I urge you to focus more energies on promoting investments in this project in your respective areas of accreditation," said Kibaki.

Kibaki said the Lamu port project will catalyse Kenya's progress towards the achievement of economic and social goals envisaged in the Vision 2030.
