Nigeria: NBC Approves 4 Additional Radio Licenses for Kano Freedom Radio

Kano — Kano Film Laboratory and Production Services Limited (FILAPS), operators of the Kano-based Freedom Radio, is to spend 500 million on the four new stations that will be open soon in Sokoto, Maiduguri and Kaduna, following new licenses granted to the company by the National Broadcasting Commission (NBC).

The broadcast firm was granted the licenses to operate in four major cities across the north and this brings to six the total number of radio stations being operated by Freedom Radio. Freedom Radio is already in operation in Kano and Jigawa States. It commenced FM radio broadcast in Kano on December 1, 2003 and in February, 2007, it added another station in Dutse in Jigawa State capital.
