Uganda: Children's Rights Are Paramount

Saturday Vision has recently started bringing readers stories of persons seeking reunion with their families. This is a highly commendable act, which I believe will assist many people, especially children who get lost.

The headline of the stories, "Anyone who knows us?" is heart-rending. According to the stories, the reasons why children get lost vary. Some say they don't know any of their relatives, others have lost parents and have no one to turn to while others are said to have been thrown out by their parents! Some of the children are said to have been picked up by relatives who brought them to work in Kampala. And then there is this sad story of a child who feared to go back home because he had lost sh1,000 which he had been given to buy charcoal.
