A week-long training of security personnel on Search And Rescue (SAR) and Global Maritime Distress and Safety System (GMDSS) equipment ended last Thursday at the Atlantic Hotel in Banjul.
Speaking at the closing ceremony, Vladimir Spiridonov, the International Maritime Organisation's (IMO) training consultant, underscored the importance of the training, saying it relates to the provision of assistance to persons and vessels that are either in danger at sea, or likely to be in danger.
