And despite his flawed argument about death as the end of body and soul, Greek philosopher Epicurus groused: "It is possible to provide security against other ills, but as far as death is concerned, we men live in a city without walls."

So when The Citizen business journalist and chief statistician Hassan Juma Mghenyi received his trumpet call on Thursday, many of the people who knew him were shocked.Winnie "Madikizela" Abdallah, a graphics designer with Business Times Limited, was short of words. "I'm devastated," she said. Hassan worked with BTL for eight years before joining Mwananchi Communications Limited, which publishes The Citizen, Mwananchi and Mwanaspoti.
