Kenya: Insecurity in Pokot, Turkana

16 August 2011

Insecurity along the border of Pokot and Turkana counties has hindered development projects and collection of revenue by the county council of Pokot.

Speaking yesterday in his office in Kapenguria, West Pokot town clerk Kipkogei Tanui, said the council insecurity has made it hard for implementation of projects in the area despite allocating funds. Tanui said, council had plans to upgrade Nasolot game reserve, put up tourists' hotels and improve infrastructure, but they were unable to do so due to frequent attacks from both sides.
