Liberia: Female Aspirant Wins Unity Party Legislative Ticket

The primaries of the ruling Unity Party(UP) were held Tuesday, August 2, 2011 throughout Grand Bassa County, with a female aspirant, Elizabeth Banwon winning one of the legislative seats of party in the county. Aspirant Banwon won the party's District #3 (formerly District #4) ticket on white ballots.

Her contender for the party's ticket, Albert Saah withdrew from the process on grounds of reported irregularities that he observed before the process.
