Kenya: 30 Percent Women MPs Not Possible, Says Cabinet

Cabinet yesterday approved what will be the first amendment of the constitution which is just a year old after resolving one of its key tenets was impossible to achieve.

The Constitution stipulates that at least one third of elected Members of Parliament be of either gender. The Electoral Commission has been struggling with ways to structure electoral rules to conform to the law.
