Luanda — The building of strong democracies in Africa should be closely linked to plural, exempt, responsible, free from monopolies and trade pressures media, regulated and monitored by a credible institution, said Friday the Angolan Mass Media minister, Carolina Cerqueira.
The statement is contained in a story posted in a book released by the Angola government on 31st Summit of the Heads of State and Government of the Southern Africa Development Community (SADC) held between Wednesday and Thursday in Luanda.
The book displays the message of the Angolan president, José Eduardo dos Santos, wishing welcome to the delegates at the summit.
"The media and freedom of press in building of democratic societies in the African continent" is the title of the story.
The Mass media minister stresses, among other issues, the role played by the organs of social communication, specially their relevance in publishing the informative contents and the educative aspects of the citizens.
