Ghana: No Deal - Parliament Fails to Reach Consensus On Controversial U.S.$3 Billion Chinese Loan

The people's representatives do not see eye to eye on the relevance of the acquisition of a US$3 billion loan the government of Prof. John Evans Atta Mills seeks to contract from China, in view of the controversial US$1.5 billion STX Korean deal that is becoming an embarrassment to all Ghanaians.

Parliament has, for the third time, failed to debate and approve the $3 billion loan being sourced from China to finance infrastructural development projects under the Ghana Shared Growth and Development Agenda (GSGDA). At the sitting yesterday, both the Minority and Majority sides failed to reach a consensus on the issue.
