Nigeria: NERC Mulls Governors' Power Deregulation Proposal

Abuja — The Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC) is consulting with stakeholders to decide whether or not to accept the proposal by state governments to participate in the distribution of electricity in the country.

Rivers, Akwa Ibom, Delta and Lagos States are in the forefront for the deregulation and decentralisation of the power sector to enable their participation in the distribution of the electricity they generate.
