Walvis Bay — As early as February next year Walvis Bay could suffer periodic blackouts, as the current firm supply is no longer able to meet the growing power needs of the town.
Currently, Walvis Bay's capacity is a 40 MVA non-firm supply, but the town needs to at least up this by 100 percent to 80 MVA in the next 12 to 18 months to avoid periodic blackouts, says Erongo Regional Electricity Distributor Managing Director, Gerhard Coeln.
