The strike threat issued by the giant Kenya National Union of Teachers to protest a shortage of teachers is unfortunate and needs to be tackled quickly and judiciously.
At the heart of the matter is the union's demand for employment of at least 10,000 new teachers and putting on permanent terms some 18,000 hired on contract last year.
