THE British government's foreign policy on Zimbabwe is hinged on the premise that President Robert Mugabe would soon die and is therefore prepared to have the country governed by coalition regimes for the next decade as long as there is symbolic change, a leading British academic has said.
Stephen Chan, an International Relations professor at the University of London, made these remarks at a policy dialogue meeting in Harare last week where he gave the UK's perspective on the Zimbabwe situation.
