Nigeria: Enugu Shut Amid N18,000 Minimum Wage Protest

Enugu,Lagos — SOCIAL and economic activities were grounded yesterday in Enugu State following arrest and detention by security operatives of the President of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Comrade Abdulwahed Omar, his counterpart in theTrade Union Congress (TUC), Comrade Peter Esele and other labour leaders.

Combined team of soldiers and policemen, who held the labour leaders hostage for hours, later released them, after the intervention of the police headquarters in Abuja.
