Uganda: Evicted Vendors Threaten to Camp At Police Stations

Kampala — The Kampala City Vendors' Association has given Kampala Capital City Authority [KCCA] and police seven days to allocate them alternative workplace or they will camp at police with their families.

In their petition dated September 15 addressed to the Speaker of Parliament, the vendors argue that life has become too hard since their eviction. They also want city authorities allocate them Clock Tower ground in the meantime. "We cannot afford to look after our families anymore. Failure by the government to find us alternative place will force us to mobilise fellow vendors and avail ourselves to police for the government to take care of our families," the petition signed by the association secretary Edward Kyalula reads in part.
