Nigeria: SON to Begin Shutting of Steel Firms in 60 Days

The Standard Organisation of Nigeria (SON) is poised to begin shutting down steel factories in the country in the next two months, in a bid to sanitise the steel industry.

Speaking after a stakeholders meeting with steel manufacturers and importers in Lagos, the agency's Director General, Dr. Joseph Odumodu, said to boost the effort, SON has given identification marks to local producers of steel and other products for easy traceability of substandard steel products.
