Kenya: Accused Stuns Court in School Girl Rape Case

A 33- year-old man who had earlier pleaded guilty of defiling a 10-year-old girl yesterday changed his mind when he was supposed to be sentenced. Lorewa Nangoni shocked a Nanyuki court on September 19 when he casually said he had sex with the school girl to please her following frequent insistence from the minor.

The accused told senior principal magistrate Jesse Nyaga that indeed she did the pupil a great favour. "Enyewe huyu msichana amenisumbua kwa muda mrefu na juzi tu ndio nilionelea nimpe haki yake afurahi (this girl has been demanding that we have sex and I have always resisted until recently when I gave in to her demands),"he told the court.
