Liberia: Wea-Jue Mining Company Must Leave

Several citizens of Grand Cape Mount County have welcomed the decision by the Liberian government to terminate the CLASS B Mining License of the Wea-jue Hill Mining Company.

Currently, the Wea-jue Hill Mining Company operates in the Gola Konneh District, Grand Cape Mount County. It can be recalled that recently, the Liberian government via the Ministry of Lands, Mines and Energy terminated the CLASS B Mining License of the Wea-jue Hill Mining Company. Among other things, the government cited what it calls the failure of the company to submit a production plan to the Ministry, prior to the commencing of mining as well as the company's failure to provide the Ministry with information relative to the disposal (sale) of minerals extracted by it.
