Kenya: Cremation Is the Best Way

The Kikuyu Council of Elders want Wangari Maathai buried in a wooden coffin this Saturday. They said the coffin should be made from one of the many trees she had planted. They also urged every Kenyan to plant a tree on her memory.

It would be a wonderful thing if we all now planted a 'Wangari' tree - 38 million new trees would help to reverse global warming. But the elders are mistaken in trying to prevent her cremation.
