Maiduguri — Provost of the Federal College of Education (Technical) Potiskum, Yobe State, Dr. Shettima A. Saidu has been elected president of the Chemical Society of Nigeria (CSN). The election was held during the 34th annual international conference, workshop and exhibition of CSN, which took place at the University of Ilorin between the 19th and 23rd of September 2011.
Shettima, who was the national vice president of the society before the election, has served the association in various capacities.
Born in 1961, Shettima bagged a B.Sc and M.Sc in Chemistry from ABU, Zaria in 1984 and 1994 respectively. He also obtained Post Graduate Diplomas in Education and Public administration from the same university in 1991 and 1992 respectively, before capping it with a Ph.D in Pharmaceutical Chemistry in 2003.
