Gambia: Brikama United Coach Calls for Community Football

Brikama United coach Ensa Sambou has called for the need of community football as the way forward to developing the sport in the country. He made these remarks as the team received their prize for winning the 2011 Gambian premier league in Banjul at the weekend.

According to the tactician, football should be taken to the community level and if done the game would be better in the Gambia.

Sambou also revealed that his team is working tirelessly towards participating in the CAF Champions League as they continue to engage stakeholders to ensure that the team debuts in the continental competition.

"We are working both day and night to see that the team is represented. We will involve every stakeholder and even the president of the Republic Sheikh Professor Dr Alhaji Yahya Jammeh, a citizen of West Coast Region, is included.

God willing Brikama United will be represented," he said. He also mentioned that his team will try and emulate Gamtel's good performances at the international stage adding that he will have consultative talks with the technical staff of the telecommunication giants so as to brief his side.
