Kenya: Amendment Bill Is Inept and Unnecessary

We share the anxieties of those who do not want to see the Constitution amended at all at this early stage in its history, strengthened by our belief that the changes are not necessary.

The Constitution Amendment Bill, proposing additional members necessary to "ensure that no more than two-thirds of the membership of the [National Assembly or Senate] are of the same gender" (clause (1)(ba) of Article 97) and to change the date of the next general elections.
