Liberia: 'Let Sirleaf Finish the Job'

A group of Liberians calling themselves representatives of the “People’s Voice” have urged Liberians to “seize the moment” by reelecting President Ellen Johnson-Sirleaf next Tuesday. The “People’s Voice”, which described itself as a grassroots electoral initiative for good governance and development, and claiming more than 5000-strong membership from all 15 political subdivisions of Liberia, said its focus is to “silently but surely guide Liberian electorates on the right path”.

The group’s spokesperson, who introduced herself simply as Elizabeth B. Gobah, said the group was a “melting pot” for registered voters who have no confidence in the presidential candidates their parties have chosen and preferred not to be held down by partisan barriers in choosing the right leader for Liberia. “We people from different parties who do not think our parties’ candidates present any better alternative for Liberia,” she said.
