Nigeria: General Denies Using Thugs, Soldiers to Attack Church

Calabar — A retired Brigadier General, Enang Essien has denied sponsoring thugs and security agencies to invade worship centres of the Brotherhood of Cross and Star as reported by some national dailies.

At a news conference organised by the leadership of the Brotherhood of the Cross and Star to correct the impression, Brigadier General Essien said it is not true that he led soldiers and other security men to beat and chase out worshippers from branches of the Brotherhood of the Cross and Star in Onitsha, Anambra State and Ikot Abasi in Akwa Ibom State.
