Uganda: Varsity Professor Calls for 'Vigilant' Lifestyle

A professor of medicine at Gulu University has asked residents in the town to adopt good living practices to avoid getting non-communicable diseases such as obesity, diabetes and high blood pressure.

While presenting a paper to mark the International Day of Non-communicable Diseases in Gulu recently, Prof. Emmanuel Moro said the diseases are not only for the rich as it has been initially perceived, but also affects those who feed poorly and do not exercise: "Fat people are usually considered rich in most African societies not knowing, they could be potential candidates for obesity, diabetes and high blood pressure."
