The standard-bearer of the National Union for Democratic Progress (NUDP), Nimba County Senior Senator Prince Y. Johnson has pledged to support incumbent President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf in the run-off election that is soon to be scheduled by the National Elections Commission (NEC).
On Sunday, October 16, 2011, the National Elections Commission announced that there will possibly be a run-off going by the trend of results collated so far. And by the Commissions estimation, no single political party can attain the 50 plus 1 percent of the total votes in the October 11 election required for the presidential seat.
Senator Prince Johnson is currently third in the total results released so far and has 11% of the votes trailing the ruling Unity Party (UP) of President Sirleaf and the Congress for Democratic Change (CDC) of Winston Tubman.
Much of his votes during the just ended Liberian general elections came from the Gio and Mano people of his county, Nimba. There is no reason yet stated why Prince Johnson who has over the past six years been a bitter political opponent and critic of Ellen Johnson Sirleaf supporting her in the second round.
According to the Nimba County Senior Senator through a community based radio (Kergheamahn) in Ganta, he would be going there to thank the people for their support to him during the elections and make a final declaration of support to Madam Ellen Johnson Sirleaf.
He had earlier said if he does not win the first round, he would examine the two leading parties and choose the one he believes would deliver Liberia from its current state.
Senator Johnson in 2005 was a member of the Unity Party, but defected when he was beaten by one of his kinsmen, Nyan Martin in the senatorial primary in Saclepea, Nimba County. He went as an independent candidate and received the highest votes in the county and even the entire country among senatorial candidates.
The turning of support to Madam Sirleaf by Prince Johnson gives a clear picture of the incumbent President's victory in the expected second round of presidential elections as Nimba is the second highest populated county in Liberia and can swing victory into the hands of the president.

I am not sure why you write that the reason for Prince Johnson supporting Pres Sirleaf is unclear. Please research your topic. Tubman was part of the inner circle with Doe who have been linked with the massacres of the people of Nimba County that effectively triggered the war in the first place....
Remember Sirleaf has been painted a warmonger by Tubman, what is forgotten is his connections that started it in the first place. Have a look at these two sites for some connections and a reminder of what Liberia NEVER needs to return to.

I wonder how much he got paid. Imagine a Nobel Peace Laureate turning to a warlord to save her. The Nobel Peace prize comittee must be so proud!
Are not they both warlords!!! Rebel to rbel solidarity
That is what being a Noble Peace Laureate is all about.
In the great words of Mahatma Gandhi: "It is easy enough to be friendly to one's friends. But to befriend the one who regards himself as your enemy is the quintessence of true religion. We must become the change we want to see. Whenever you are confronted with an opponent. Conquer him with love."
"If you want to make peace, you don't talk to your friends. You talk to your enemies."
Prince Johnson said that the main reason he is not backing Weah is that Weah refused to join him and call him a warlord. Weah also promised if he is elected to implement the the TRC report. Wow! Weah is the one showing morals and courage here. Ellen will join anyone just to win even a cannibal and ignoramus like PJ. What next, a Nobel Peace Prize for Johnson. I guess the nominating video will be Johnson cutting off doe's ears. And this woman won the Noble Peace prize!!! What a travesty!!!.
