Maputo — Despite recent advances in mother-and-child health care, every day an average of 11 Mozambican women die due to complications in pregnancy and childbirth, according to Health Minister Alexandre Manguele.
Among the common complications that all too often lead to maternal deaths are uterine rupture, eclampsia, bleeding after childbirth, puerpural sepsis, and complications following back-street abortions.
